Modern Twist on Vidal Sassoon Classic
Deborah has paid tribute to the late Vidal Sassoon with a modern take on one of his most famous cuts.
Deborah, said she wanted to give the style, which Sassoon created for 1960s style icon Mary Quant, a new twist.
“The photograph of Vidal cutting Mary Quant’s hair is such a landmark image. It really did mark the beginning of something completely different in hairdressing.”
Deborah’s reworked “Mary Quant” has a heavier fringe and is cut slightly shorter around the ear than the original.
Vidal Sassoon died in May this year, aged 84, at his home in Los Angeles.
Images from the photoshoot, which were taken by London-based artist and film maker Sophie McCorquodale, will appear on the Zeitgeist Hair website and in the salon. Dress from ‘Harold Crabtree’s’.
Another month, another update on the goings on at Zeitgeist Hair!
We were very happy to support the wonderful ‘Hebden Bridge WI’ a couple of weeks ago. Karen explained how a haircut can help to flatter various face shapes and the ladies then performed consultations on each other. It was really lovely to chat to everybody AND there was delicious cake!
Alistair Bishop spent a day with us last month performing Indian Head Massage. I’m not sure how relaxing it was for the recipients… with the afternoon of torrential rain and violent thunderstorms in Hebden Bridge (“what thunder?” said a very chilled out Debbie, who’s head was obviously in a very different place!).
Hebden Bridge was hosting the ‘Town Criers Championships’ on that day too. When I popped out at lunchtime there were town criers in huge sodden fancy coats, scattering all over for cover!
Alistair hopes to spend another day with us soon… watch this space!
Another date for your diary; On September 28th, we are really looking forward to joining in with the
‘Macmillan Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning’
It is from 9.30 until 12 and everybody is very welcome.
For a donation to this wonderful charity, you can come along to the salon and enjoy a slice of cake and a cup of tea/coffee and a natter!
Chrissie at Hat Therapy on Market Street is also holding a coffee morning. What better way to spend a Friday morning?
Why not start at one end of ‘Hebden’ have a slice of cake, and then have a stroll through our lovely town.
Perhaps you can do a little shopping en route, all the time you’d be walking off those calories! By the time you get to the other side of town, your blood sugars will be dangerously low and you will then NEED more cake! And it’s all for a brilliant cause!
Fancy getting involved with ‘MOVEMBER’ this year?
Yes boys! It’s that time again!
Amy at Zeitgeist is offering hot towel wet shaves for a donation throughout November.
All monies raised will go to the ‘MOVEMBER’ charity that supports male health issues specifically prostate and testicular cancer.Watch out for more details!
Special OFFER to all STUDENTS!
We would like to Offer all Students beginning/returning to university, £10 OFF a cut and finish until 7th October.
Finally, Kate has kept us very entertained this month (without even trying!); Last week she spent a COUPLE OF HOURS sat at the computer, growling and chuntering at the incompetence of Google and the organisers of Salon International.
Apparently they only had dates and prices for 2012 and she wanted them for THIS year… (?)
She also logged on to Facebook, and seeing her newsfeed full of local business news, she posted that she would have to defriend some as they were taking up too much of her Facebook…
It took a few moments before she realised that she was logged on as Zeitgeist Hair!
Apologies to anybody who may have read that post, it was almost HER P45 time!
(Don’t tell anybody, but she’s also got a drink problem. Yesterday, in her eagerness to drink her peppermint tea; she threw it down her neck so fast, the teabag hit her in the face and splashed her white blouse… I’m saying nothing)
A Lovely Comment Left On Our Website…
It was my first visit to the salon today, and I can say it was the best experience I have ever had at a hair salon, not to mention my amazing new hair colour and cut! All the staff involved (Becky, Amy and Naomi) were great, really friendly and not only offered their professional advice, but also listened to what I wanted too. Can’t wait to go back! thanks again ! (p.s- have a fab holiday Becky !
