Flora’s Fringe
Flora has settled in really well and has written a few words describing her training so far;
“My first model (Rosie) joined me on my first day, for a blow dry. Which was a lovely way to start things off.
She has long straight hair, nice and simple for a first time; so I was shocked to say the least, when I looked at the clock and I’d been at it for 3 hours! poor Rosie was very patient with me. In the weeks since, I’ve just about managed to to halve the time it takes me, but there’s still a long way to go!
Colourist Sophie McCorquodale came up from London to do some colour training with Naomi and I.
Having only been here for 2 weeks, this was very intense, but I loved it!
The first day was very relaxed, the salon was closed so it was very quiet. I stood in for one of the models and went home with pink hair! It was only temporary, but I liked it so much, I’m considering a permanent change.
The second day was borderline chaotic in comparison, it must have been a huge shock to poor Jane who’s used to having control on the colour floor! Monday was spent doing vegetable rinses at the backwash, but then tuesday we did 3 models each, using both semi permanent and permanent colour.
I’ve since started attending Calderdale College 1 day a week, mainly for theory and the health and safety side of things. It’s very different to being at work, and I’m still getting used to it, but the change in environment is nice every now and then and it’s interesting to see the different ways people do things”.
