Zeitgeist - The spirit of now

Another summer on Carlton street and even though I am no longer working at Zeitgeist Hair, I can almost hear Debbie’s Birkenstocks flip flopping, bees buzzing round the hanging baskets, scissors snipping, hairdryers perfecting, china tea cups clinking, clients smiling and thanking….and all whilst Kate holds court on reception!

I still chuckle at a comment on mysalon.com reviews from March;
“…Kate the receptionist is one of the nicest, witty women I have met, with incredible style and great humour…”
Pah! And apparently she didn’t even write it herself! (Very, very true though, I’m sure you all agree!)

No. I’m not missing working at Zeitgeist at all…. Much!

And I have plenty to miss this next month too!

Our Fathers Day offer is still available, only until the 12th July, but there is still time to treat your Dad! A haircut and traditional wet shave with Amy and with a complimentary glass of beer or wine, all for just £65! A perfect way to show your Dad how fab he is!

We also have 3 amazing artists “POPPING UP” in our Zeitgeist attic.

First of all, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Justin Garner and Jack Henriques with their Photography Exhibition on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd Juneportraitgallery-slice_12
Both from Manchester, these 2 extremely talented photographers draw inspiration from natural history, landscapes and the abstract. Their photos are top class!

Talya Baldwin

Will be with us from Friday 28th-30th June
Talya, originally from London and now based in Hebden Bridge, is a mixed media illustrator. Her subjects tend to include the unloved, forgotten or unpopular. For instance, side show performers, feral pigeons, weeds and rats.portrait1

Through her beautiful illustrations, Talya recognises features that may illicit uncomfortable feeling or disgust and unease. She magically turns them into enchanting and endearing depictions.

I’m sure that exhibiting in a beautiful salon, where style and perfection preside, and amongst the inspiring backdrop of the pennines in summer; Talya’s work will contrast as well as be complimented in equal measures!

Please, do come along to both these pop up visual treats, all very welcome!

Becky had a baby boy, Noah weighing 9lb 1oz in May.
And will be rejoining the team from Friday having had a short, but very productive and happy maternity leave. Congratulations to Becky and Phil.

Much in demand; From September Debbie shall be working Thursday’s and Friday’s, during school hours and taking alternative days off at the weekend.
