Summer Fun in and around Hebden Bridge

Summer is dashing away from us as we find ourselves in August already, but there’s still plenty to look forward to. After the valley was set alight with artistic delights throughout the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival and the Open Studios and Gardens, the fun is set to continue as we can still feast upon the treats that Happy Valley Pride will provide, with a rich and varied programme focusing on the theme of heroes from 7th-13th August.

Highlights include acclaimed comedian Zoe Lyons hitting the Trades Club and a Drag Make-up workshop at the Little Theatre. Don’t miss the opening social at Old Gate on Monday 7th August, to kick off the whole shabang.

As ever the Hebden Bridge Picture House has all sorts on offer, from blockbusters to old favorites. There really is something for everyone, so spend a rainy afternoon at the pictures, mug of tea in hand! Go on…you know you want to!

The Piece Hall has officially reopened and we can’t wait to check it out, the re-opening festival is chockablock with events, exhibitions, play days, workshops and much much more! Stand out items on the calendar include the ‘Saxophone Massive’ on Saturday 18th August, where a huge ensemble of sax players of all ages and abilities come together for one big extravaganza performing on masse for the public. Also the installation of ‘Architects of Air: Albesia’ an extraordinary luminarium which comprises an incredible structure of winding paths and soaring domes inspired Islamic architecture, Archimedean solids and Gothic cathedrals! Wowee sounds slightly awe inspiring, plus you can enjoy for free!

The school holidays are always a busy time, with clients and stylists alike jetting/driving/biking/hiking off to enjoy some down time. Whether that be frolicking at the British seaside, soaking up the atmosphere at a festival or heading for warmer climbs, we all need a trip to look forward to.

Debbie will be embarking on an adventure later this year as she heads off to India for 5 weeks as of 26th October. this does mean we have opened up the appointment book until the end of the year, for those that wish to get organised and book in around this trip.

We hope that everyone is enjoying their summer so far and we look forward to seeing you in the salon soon.

Best wishes
