Zeitgeist - The spirit of now

Spring is in the hair!

Posted March 1st, 2018 by admin

I have seen some blue sky, heard some birds singing, spotted some crocuses and there are lots of gorgeous British daffodils available in the shops, so I can say with confidence spring is in the air!

Although as I write this, the weather reports say we may be getting lots more of the white stuff, but I remain optimistic, which has been reflected in our salon window, where ‘spring is in the hair’ with displays of Fleur de Lys British daffodils and lots of lovely Bumble and bumble products. We are all ready to give you a new Spring colour or cut, so either pop into the Salon, call 01422 844974 or book online at www.zeitgeist.com and we will certainly be able to create a new look to at least put a spring in your step!

When we think of Spring, we often think of the new and what could be more relevant than another Zeitgeist baby! Yes, the gorgeous Amy has given birth to the equally lovely baby Carver. He was born on the 3rd of February, weighing 7lb and Amy and Justin are loving every minute of parenthood. We can’t wait to meet him, but in advance of this, here are some gorgeous pictures of the new arrival.

Talking of all things new, I have been aware recently that we have welcomed lots of new clients to Zeitgeist and what a delight they have been. We are so lucky to be able to get to meet such a splendid bunch of people on a regular basis, whether new clients or old.  Don’t forget if you recommend someone new to the Salon get them to mention you, then you will receive an email for £10 off your next haircut and the person you recommended will also receive the same offer. We have had lots of recommendations already, so thank you to everyone who has passed on such positive comments about us to others.

In salon news, we have had a very excited stylist this month as the wonder that is Mel Baker was invited to help create some fabulous hairstyles at LONDON FASHION WEEK no less! It is something that Mel has wanted to do for a long time, understandably as it is such a prestigious event; the biggest fashion event of the season, show-casing the work of British and international designers. So here is Mel’s account of her time there:

“From the moment I stepped off the train the London excitement took hold and the smile didn’t leave my face! I walked past a building with pink neon lights emblazoned with “It’s really happening” and it felt like my dream had turned to reality

Like my first day at school I arrived with enough new kit to sink a ship; all sparkling clean. Arriving at my workstation I looked left and right to my colleagues for the day, watching what they were unpacking as they worked speedily. That speed would be much needed as time flies backstage. After 12yrs At Vidal Sassoon, the hair for the Richard Malone show played massively to my strengths (to my relief); smooth, sleek and shiny with strong precise partings. Some of the models had incredible texture which was teased into a beautiful, cool, tousled look; they looked striking alongside each other. The contrasting jewel toned outfits with plaid patterns were a wonderful opening to London Fashion Week. When the hush fell backstage and the models stood with anticipation to strut the catwalk, I held my breath. The music loudly boomed “baby I got ya money” I was so thrilled. To see the catwalk from BT’s and have a part in the creative process was all I could have hoped. The Revlon team led by John Vial was a wonderful mix of talent of all ages and experience. Massively supportive, massively talented and zero egos. How fabulous. How lucky. I enjoyed every single second.”

In baking news, love was in the air in February when clients who came to the salon on the 13th and 14th of February had a chance to try my heart shaped jammy dodgers. I recently had a friend over who was delighted to sample my chocolate and custard cake, so watch out for that over the coming months.

In product news, my chocolate and custard cake-loving friend who is a busy mum and a restaurant owner had asked me for recommendations for something she could spray into her hair and then leave it for a natural finish. Knowing the wonder of Bumble of bumble I knew there would be something that would work for her and thought I would find it amongst their surf range. So, for anyone who is looking for a quick hair fix in the morning look no further than surf spray.  Work through damp or dry hair and either use a diffuser or let it dry naturally to create sexy, windswept styles, particularly good for wavy, fine hair as it creates body.

That’s all for now, enjoy the lighter nights, blue skies and don’t get me started on gambolling lambs…………!
