Zeitgeist - The spirit of now

Love was in the Hair…

Posted February 20th, 2019 by admin

Well, February has hailed a very exciting moment for me, on my trip to get Becky’s lunch (delicious pizza and salad from Marco’s!) I went there without a coat and was perfectly warm! It certainly feels like Spring is here and for those want to celebrate the lighter nights and the lack of outerwear, why not have some highlights in your hair or have it cut to reveal a lighter, brighter you. As always, we will be delighted to see you; please call 01422 844974 or book online at www.zeitgeist.com for your next appointment.
In Debbie news, she is now doing an extra day and will be working Wednesday, Thursday and alternate Saturdays; for those who have returned to have your hair cut by Debbie, you will have noticed she is as splendid as ever and is looking amazing.
He has lived in Australia, Columbia, had a salon in Harrogate and worked all over the world, but the lure of Hebden Bridge is just too much for him……Chris is returning. I can only assume it’s the weather which had drawn him back and obviously our exceptional clients! Chris will be coming back each month to work for a few days and will be covering Debbie’s holidays. The next dates he will be back in the Salon are the 5-9th March and then between the 17th and 30th April.
In baking new, we have had a very talented baker in the Salon and it wasn’t me! Ella, the daughter of one of our clients baked some delicious vegan chocolate brownies and lemon drizzle cake. She was raising funds for a guide trip to Ireland where she will be doing some valuable community work. Thank you to everyone who bought cakes or just contributed to her cause as she managed to raise an extremely impressive £72.10. After a brief hiatus, I also popped on my apron, tuned into radio four and listened to Desert Island Discs with Bob Mortimer (highly recommended) and whipped up an orange and passionfruit cake for you to enjoy on Valentine’s day. For anyone who fancies doing the same, I used the recipe from this month’s The Simple Things, take a look at this wonderful magazine when you are next in the Salon.

Debbie and Kaye were busy doing some lovely short haircuts on valentines, along with eating cake.

In product news, for people like myself who prefer to air dry their hair rather than blow dry it, I would recommend Bumble and bumble’s Surf Shampoo and Conditioner. This product gently cleanses and moisturises your hair, whilst adding body and texture to create beautiful beachy waves and tousled styles.

Just in case you missed this in last months blog, we welcomed Gaynor to our team and here’s a little info about her…

Gaynor Francis, an extremely experienced technician will be coming to enhance our team here in Hebden Bridge. Gaynor like everyone at Zeitgeist is Vidal Sassoon trained; she started in 1993 initially working with Debbie, Chris and Jane in Manchester, then moving to Vidal Sassoon in London and then Glasgow to work both in the training centre and the Salon. From here, she moved to Vidal Sassoon in California and then Miami to head up their training department. On her return to Britain, she became a lecturer, teaching others the technical skills involved in colour and then went on to qualify as a makeup artist, before returning to her first love as a colour technician. As you can see from her vast experience, we are both lucky and delighted to have her join us.

Zeitgeist will have been open for eight years next month, so not to do things by halves, we have decided to celebrate in Amsterdam! So, in next month’s blog, I will no doubt bring you tales of art, culture, soused herrings, stroopwafel and the odd glass of wine (!)
That’s all for now
