Zeitgeist - The spirit of now

Posted April 1st, 2019 by admin

March has been an eventful month for us here at Zeitgeist as it means we have celebrated our 8-year anniversary! So, may we all take this opportunity to say thank you to every one of our clients for allowing this to happen; we think you are a lovely lot and really appreciate the fact that you have given us your continued support and loyalty over the last eight years. Normally we would go out for a meal to celebrate this fact, but this time we decide to take to the skies and celebrate in Amsterdam. We had an eventful weekend, starting with the fact that I got on to a flight after avoiding that mode of transport for many years (thanks to Debbie and her Dad’s solitaire game and the general patience of my colleagues). We then experienced a rather ‘exuberant’ fellow passenger and before we knew it we were in the land of tulips, bikes and gouda!  We indulged our cultural side with the Banksy exhibition at the Moco and the David Hockney exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum and fed ourselves with some gorgeous food; Chris may even argue it was the ‘best food ever’ and met up with Debbie’s fabulous daughter and boyfriend. We stayed in a very cool air bnb in Haarlem, where we got to know one another a lot better (Beth and I slept Eric and Ernie style!) You always feel like you know people a lot better when you have seen one another in your pyjamas, nightshirts and palm tree shorts (Chris!).

Amsterdam 2019

In Salon news, after almost two years since we last had one, we will be having a slight price increase from the 16th of April; this has been necessary due to an increase in business costs and it goes without saying we appreciate your understanding in this matter. For those who don’t already know it, Karen is now working two Tuesdays a month as well as every Friday and the majority of Saturdays. Chris will be with us every month for the foreseeable future and has availability for cuts and colour this weekend; Friday, Saturday and Sunday (5th, 6th and 7th of April). We will also be open on Good Friday, so if you want to look amazing for your Easter break you know who to call; we do have availability.

In product news, we are delighted to announce that selected stylists and colourists will now be offering Olaplex treatment. This treatment is particularly good for hair that has become damaged through chemical processes; as it hydrates, reduces frizz and boosts shine and strengthens hair. The other great news is that it is free from sulphates, parabens and is vegan friendly. When you are next with us, please ask us about Olaplex and we will be able to discuss this treatment and if it would be beneficial for you.

In baking news, after a drought in January (New Year’s resolutions are the enemy of cake), I decided that sometimes you need a Wednesday to be a little bit special and the main way this can be achieved would be by eating a ginger and apple cake. If you want to make a Wednesday wonderful or a Tuesday tremendous, follow this link to find the recipe https://www.theguardian.com/food/2019/mar/15/stem-ginger-recipes-anna-jones

We have also hosted another bake sale for Josie who has been raising money for a volunteering trip to Indonesia organised by the NCS organisation. Whilst she is there, she will be helping to teach English to Primary School children as well as volunteering in an animal conservation. Thanks to everyone who donated, I hope you enjoyed Josie’s baked treats, they all looked delicious.

Well here’s to lighter nights, gambolling lambs and the possibility that we may be able to open the door at Zeitgeist because……..it is warm!!

That’s all for now!
