It’s official, less than one week to go and we are back! We can’t wait to see you all again; Beth and Debbie have made sure the salon is sparkling, Simone, Jules and I have had some refresher product training so should be knowledgeable about all things Bumble, Chris has been practising his running so he can get to Blue for a Katsu curry if he gets any spaces between clients and each and every one of us are looking forward welcoming you through the doors and making you feel fabulous again. We will be in the salon from 12th April, so if you want to make an appointment or go on our cancellation list, please call 01422 844974.
In product news, as mentioned previously some of us in the salon have been doing some refresher online product training. We were reminded of the versatility of the Bumble and bumble’s Styling Crème; this is a great product which is suitable for all hair types, when used with a hairdryer it creates hold and volume, when used in damp hair and air dried it leaves hair sleek and smooth and it can also lift and enhance curls.
In salon news, we have had a few changes of working days; Amy is now working Wednesday and alternate Friday/Saturdays. Chris will be working extra days in the nearfuture; as well as his usual schedule he will be also working on Tuesdays and alternate Fridays. Jules will be working every Tuesday along with her usual Thursday and one Sunday per month and Simone’s schedule is Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Please don’t forget that we have a cancellation list, so do contact us if you would like to be put on this and we will do our very best to make sure you are seen.
One of the lovely things we used to be able to do for you was to serve you a cup of tea or coffee in a bone china cup, but obviously due to the current restrictions we haven’t been able to do this for a little while. We know this was a very welcome addition to our service especially if you were in for a cut and a colour, however the brilliant Leila’s Kitchen, situated on Albert Street have offered our clients a 20% reduction on a drink on the day of their appointment. A big thank you to them, another great example of the collaborative business community we have here in Hebden Bridge https://leilaskitchen.co.uk/
The salon has now been open for 10 YEARS, and the team had a little help putting together a little video, take a look…
Here’s the playlist that DJ Red Helen put together for Zeitgeist last year.
As we have had a few months at home, I could write a whole blog about baking news, it has been cake-central in the Green household. I find baking a great antidote to a busy mind and a great stress reliever, I have been through 35 eggs this week; I wonder what that reveals about my Easter with my four boys!My latest favourite is a Mary Berry orange cake, a lightly spiced cake with orange icing, it’s delicious https://www.maryberry.co.uk/recipes/christmas/whole-orange-spice-cake-1
If you prefer a savoury bake and have a little time on your hands, the following recipe is well worth a go. I also think quiche makes you think that warm weather is around the corner and let’s hope it is after the snow and hail this week! https://www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipe_directory/c/caramelised-onionandcheddarquiche.html
We know you are a cultured lot and we love hearing your recommendations for places to visit, books to read or films to watch. So here is a little culture section for you and just a taste of normality that we hope is not too far on the horizon.
A new RHS garden will be opening in Worsley in May; a five-year project on a 154-acre site which is currently the largest gardening project in Europe. With one of the largest walled gardens in the country, it will also have a café will a seasonal menu using produce from its kitchen garden. The Head of Site may be looking a bit more rotund than usual as he has been eating a lot of cake recently, he also has the pleasure of being married to me! https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/bridgewater.
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is also a brilliant day out; as well as the incredible art it also makes for a great walk and is especially beautiful in May when all the bluebells are out. For those of you who don’t want to make the trip just yet they are also producing a digital guide to their art, so you can also enjoy what they have to offer from the comfort of your own home https://ysp.org.uk/
The Rijkmuseum, one of Debbie and her daughter Grace’s favourite places, have been very forward thinking and whist they are closed you can now view their pieces online, you buy tickets from their web shop and then take the tour https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/from-home
So, make the spiced orange cake, get a cup of tea from Leila’s and take a trip around this most iconic museum from your front room, or while your waiting for your colour to process At Zeitgeist!
Happy Spring everyone and I cannot wait to see you all in person!
That’s all for now.
